An Encanto attraction in the Disney Parks? We’re listening!
It’s no secret that Disney’s newest animated film, Encanto (2021) is taking Disney film fans by storm. The film features the diverse and spirited Madrigal Family with an inspiring lineup of characters, award-winning animation, and an incredible list of chart-topping music.
As Encanto fans do their best to get their hands on Encanto merchandise and the film heads BACK to theaters due to its popularity, the musical mastermind behind Encanto, Lin-Manuel Miranda, dishes on a recent conversation with Disney CEO Bob Chapek.
Despite the Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s not-so-fantastic reputation, here’s one area where we’re pretty sure the Disney fandom would give him a pat on the back!
Bob Chapek has said the future for Encanto is exciting as he referred to the film as the new animated franchise for The Walt Disney Company. Now, Lin-Manuel Miranda takes that excitement one step further with possible news of an Encanto-inspired attraction.
Keep in mind, the Madrigal Family lives inside a magical Casita that is vibrant in color but also in personality. Imagine stepping foot into the Madrigal Family home while in a Disney Park!
During an interview, Lin-Manuel Miranda talked about a conversation he had with Bob Chapek saying, “I talked to him and said, “I know there’s a world in which this casita lives in a theme park and we get to actually walk through it in real life.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda further says, “And that’s really exciting, but the other byproduct of all these characters is that there’s a lot more folks want us to explore and a lot that’s being explored in fan art all over world. I don’t know what form that takes. I don’t know if that’s an animated series. I don’t know if that’s a second movie. I don’t know if that’s a stage adaptation where we have a little more time to go deep. I think it’s all possible, but we had no conversations about what they actually are.”
An Encanto attraction, a second movie, an animated series… we’ll take it all!
