When Kevin Feige announced Daredevil: Born Again at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, it was billed as an 18-episode saga that would reintroduce the Man Without Fear to Disney+. But behind-the-scenes changes have significantly reshaped the project. After an internal review, Disney dismissed original showrunners Matt Corman and Chris Ord along with the initial directing and writing team. In a rare pivot for Marvel’s studio approach, Dario Scardapane was hired as showrunner, ushering in a more traditional television model.
Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, addressed the shift last year, explaining the studio’s new direction.

Launched in March 2025, Daredevil: Born Again aired nine episodes, continuing the gritty tone of the beloved Netflix series. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprised their respective roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. They were joined by returning cast members Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher), and Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Fisk).
Several new faces entered the Daredevil fold as well. Margarita Levieva portrayed Heather Glenn, Michael Gandolfini took on the role of Daniel Blake, and the late Kamar de los Reyes played Hector Ayala, AKA White Tiger, in what became a posthumous performance following his death from cancer in December 2023.
One of the season’s most powerful storylines centered on the White Tiger, whose arc ended tragically with Hector Ayala’s death. But the legacy doesn’t end there. The show has confirmed that White Tiger’s mantle will live on—this time through Ayala’s niece, Angela Del Toro.
Photos from the set reveal that Camila Rodriguez will portray Angela Del Toro, stepping into the role of White Tiger. This marks a rare, legacy-focused transition on Disney+.

While the MCU has explored hero transitions before—such as Sam Wilson inheriting the Captain America shield or Kate Bishop stepping into Hawkeye’s shadow—this marks the first time a character shift like this is happening exclusively within the streaming space. According to The Direct, Disney+ has never featured a series where a hero’s identity is officially passed on.
This makes Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 a notable moment in Marvel’s serialized storytelling. The show’s second season is already in production and is scheduled to hit Disney+ in March 2026, giving fans plenty of time to theorize about Angela’s storyline and how it might shape the larger MCU.

What’s particularly noteworthy is how this change signifies Marvel’s commitment to deeper character arcs within its streaming catalog. Rather than relying solely on theatrical crossovers, the studio appears to be building stories that grow organically within the Disney+ ecosystem. That idea took root when Marvel restructured Daredevil: Born Again to better suit long-form storytelling.
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is slated for an eight-episode run and will be a part of Phase Six, which kicks off in July with The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025). Many returning cast members will be back for the sophomore season, and fans can also look forward to the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.

As for the future of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, his name was notably absent from the viral casting stream for Avengers: Doomsday (2026), raising speculation about whether he’ll appear in that or the follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars (2027). Cox has said he doesn’t believe he’s part of the upcoming Doomsday ensemble.
