They have already announced a new nighttime show with Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, a unique popcorn bucket at Magic Kingdom, and enhancements to Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other character costumes. However, there are two more Disney Resort experiences to add to the list for the Disney 100 celebration.

New Character Surprises

Guests staying on property at Disney World Resorts may run into some of their favorite Disney characters even outside Magic Kingdom or another theme Park. Throughout the 100th anniversary celebration, Goofy, Donald, Pluto, and other friends will make surprise visits throughout the many Walt Disney World hotels. Although character meet-and-greets at Disney Resorts are nothing new, they will don their special platinum outfits for frequent visits this year. Guests will never know who, where, or when they will pop up!

New Food Arriving At Disney Springs

Walt Disney World’s 100th-anniversary celebration doesn’t stop with meeting classic characters at their famous resorts in central Florida. Starting next month (May 1, 2023), Guests at Disney Springs can stop in at Amorette’s Patisserie, where they can get, for a limited time, the Disney100 Petite Cake. This unique treat contains layers of vanilla chiffon, berry mousse, and berry compote, all topped with a signature Disney100 Medallion macaron.

According to Disney, this is just one of many delicious dishes debuting this year as part of the celebration throughout Walt Disney World. During an interview with Disney Parks blog, Chef Amanda described the thought process behind the unique treat.

“The culinary team has the wonderful opportunity to use food for storytelling,” Chef Amanda said. “We get to make special themed treats that bring Guests into the story, letting them feel immersed in a tangible and very delicious way. The inspiration of this cake pulls from the rich purple and platinum colors used for the Disney100 celebration. The drapery on the sides of the cake represents the traditional bunting that adorns Main Street, U.S.A. for special occasions. And of course, Mickey Mouse is proudly represented on the front of the cake because as we all know: ‘It all started with a mouse.’”

As the Disney100 Celebration continues, we can’t wait to see what other surprises the Walt Disney Company has in store for Guests at Walt Disney World Resort and beyond!

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
