Staying at the Walt Disney World Resort can make a trip to “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” even more special.

Guests at Disney hotels are able to take advantage of early entry into the theme parks and complimentary transportation, along with several amenities like immersive theming, pool areas, restaurants, and in some cases, spas, fitness centers, specialty entertainment, and more. Disney Resorts offer Guests the chance to stay right on property, just a short monorail, boat, bus, or Skyliner ride away from the theme parks (or even a walk in some cases!)

Several Disney Resorts are currently undergoing major refurbishments of Guest rooms, lobbies, restaurants, and outdoor areas. Notably, the lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is set to be reimagined soon (and the fate of some of the Resort’s restaurants have yet to be determined.)

In the EPCOT Resort Area, big changes are in the works at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. The lobby area has recently been renovated, and construction is underway on the Resort’s newest restaurant, the Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers. The Resort also recently debuted a new coffee shop, Carousel Coffee, which opened earlier this year to mixed reviews.

Along with these updates, Disney’s BoardWalk has been in the process of an extensive renovation of Guest rooms. While work is continuing on certain areas of the Resort, we now have a first look at the newest accommodations in the EPCOT Resort Area.

Theme Park journalist Brooke Geiger McDonald shared new photos of the updates, which include new flooring, enhanced storage space, kitchenette appliances, and artwork inspired by the BoardWalk.

Disney’s BoardWalk offers Guests several types of accommodations, including studios and deluxe villas for Guests who are Disney Vacation Club members (or those opting to rent DVC points for their stay). Other Guest room options include suites and club level stays.

Disney has not confirmed when the work on the BoardWalk Inn will be finished, with its official website sharing the following information for Guests with upcoming trips:

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas are being refurbished with new offerings; plus, updates are coming to our Guest rooms, lobby and more. While most Resort hotel amenities will remain available, you may be able to see and hear construction during daytime hours. Additionally, please allow for additional travel time.

While the new Guest rooms follow the latest trend of Disney offering less theming in its accommodations (though this is the industry standard outside of Disney) the new rooms surely offer a refreshing change over the previous options:

Disney’s BoardWalk is also home to some of the best bars and nightlife options at Walt Disney World, including Abracadabar, Jellyrolls dueling piano bar, and table-service restaurants like Trattoria al Forno and Flying Fish Cafe. The BoardWalk Deli recently opened as the Resort’s newest quick-service location, serving up specialties like Italian sandwiches, Reubens, and pastries.

Will you be booking a stay at Disney’s BoardWalk? Rates and booking information are available through your authorized Disney travel agent or on DisneyWorld.com.

As always, we will continue to monitor updates on the refurbishment of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and will be back with more information as it is available here on Disney Tips.
