Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has been undergoing a transformation with new details added to lobby spaces and a couple of new restaurants preparing to open along Crescent Lake.

To make room for the upcoming dining changes at the Resort, the BoardWalk Bakery has been permanently closed to reopen later this month as the new BoardWalk Deli, which will feature a number of savory eats like Italian Subs, Reubens, salads, and more, alongside pastries, with hand-filled cannoli, plus breakfast sandwiches in the morning.

Nearby, the former ESPN Club space has been closed to make way for Disney’s newest destination for afternoon tea. Previously afternoon tea was offered on a limited basis in the UK pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase and in the Garden View Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Unfortunately, the latter experience has yet to reopen.

Coming soon to this location, however, is the Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, which will offer Guests savory and sweet dining options with afternoon tea. Let’s take a look at the latest progress on the transformation of ESPN Club to the Cake Bake Shop on the BoardWalk…

The official Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers website has been updated to note a new location opening in 2023 on Disney’s BoardWalk at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Looking at the menus for existing Cake Bake Shop locations, Guests visiting Walt Disney World next year could enjoy salads, soups, and quiche, along with a selection of pastries and a full afternoon tea spread.

Gwendolyn Rogers herself even recently took a trip to Disney’s BoardWalk to see the progress on her future restaurant. For fans familiar with the former ESPN Club restaurant, you will notice that a lot of the work on the exterior removing the ESPN signage appears complete.

The interior of the Cake Bake Shop is known to its Guests for its beautiful settings that are light and sophisticated, making the space a perfect setting for a new afternoon tea spot at Walt Disney World.

The description of the Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers per the shop’s website reads:

When you arrive you walk through French doors, sparkling chandeliers over head, antiqued mirrors, French inspired furniture, beautiful seasonal decorations, gorgeous cakes on French porcelain platters topped with glass domes. Gwendolyn’s shops offer the most incredible experience from ‘The Best Quiche You Will Ever Have’ to homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, even a true French Croque Monsieur. Behind the kitchen window you can see the master bakers gently sieving non-bromated flours from Vermont, there are large pots of French & Belgian Chocolate melting on the stove, cakes baking in the ovens and decorators frosting the most exquisite cakes.

Gwendolyn’s Cake Bake Shop’s have become the destination of Indiana for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and all the special occasions life offers.
