As Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) continues to expand the World side of the Jurassic franchise–while the animated series Chaos Theory continues to do so on the small screen–fans will be thrilled to know that the Park era is set to make an equally triumphant return.

The upcoming first-person action-adventure game “Jurassic Park: Survival,” from Universal and Saber Interactive, dropped its trailer during the Game Awards in December 2023. Since then, we’ve not had a great deal in the way of information besides an exclusive reveal that was shared with IGN and, more recently, an update from the game’s social media accounts.

But, as small as that update may have seemed–a picture showing the creative team’s workshop where a “Narrative Summary” manual rests on the table and a collage of seemingly indecipherable images on a board at the other end of the room–some fans think they’ve cracked the hidden meaning behind the cryptic tweet, which you can read below:

The teams at Saber Interactive and Universal Products & Experiences are about to start an exciting day of planning. Hatching up fresh ideas may take time, but trust us, it’s worth it.

Of course, said-pictures are black and white and, even on closer inspection, aren’t at all clear. But some fans think they’re screenshots of the game’s main character Dr. Maya Joshi in first-person mode driving a vehicle through the jungles of Isla Nublar, where she has been left to fend for herself after failing to evacuate the island with the rest of her co-workers.

“Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making,” the official website’s synopsis reads.

“Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story,” it continues. “Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.”

One fan posts a zoomed-in version of the image in question, saying:

“I think this confirms that we will be able to drive vehicles in the game.”

Other fans respond, with one saying that the use of vehicles could mean that “Jurassic Park: Survival” is “an open-world game on Isla Nublar.” Unfortunately, this hasn’t been confirmed by Universal or Saber. While the game will allow players to explore the abandoned InGen island in full, the term “open-world” hasn’t been used in any official discussions so far.

Either way, if you can drive in the game, the vehicle in question would be the red-and-grey gas jeep, not the electric Jungle Explorer/Land Cruiser that self-drives tourists around the park. With the game’s environment described as “a fully realized Isla Nublar” on the official website, this would give players the chance to explore the island by car as well as by foot.

That said, there are many dinosaurs in the game. Whether it’s the electric cars or the gas jeep, four-wheel drives don’t do so well in Jurassic Park (1993).

But exploring by foot won’t be a walk in the park, either.

“The island is full of different types of terrain, many of them quite challenging,” Saber Interactive creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick said of how exploring Isla Nublar works in the game in an internal Q&A with Universal and Saber that was shared with IGN last year.

“The player will need to use caution and planning in some cases, checking routes in advance,” Hollis-Leick added. “There will also be times when the player will need to move very carefully through an environment to avoid the attention of certain predators. Maya, the main character, is neither superhuman nor an action hero. There are real risks for her around every corner and the player will need to use a mixture of intelligence, grit and patience to survive the island’s many challenges.”
