Disney’s Blizzard Beach is arguably one of Orlando’s best-themed water parks. It’s one of two owned and operated by Walt Disney World and located near Animal Kingdom.
Its History
The Park opened in 1995 as Walt Disney World’s third Water Park (River Country has since closed). It’s themed around the story of a popular ski Resort that suddenly experienced rising temperatures, and all the snow and ice started to melt. It also received some recent enhancements that added Olaf and other statues.

Its Price & Value
It features 12 attractions including a chairlift, lazy river, wave pool, body slides, and tube slides. Currently, the price of admission sits at $69 for a one-day adult ticket to a Disney water Park.
Water Park admission can also be added to a current Disney ticket for an additional fee. Although the prices have increased, as all parks have across the board, many people still feel it’s worth the add-on feature. A day or two at the water parks can be a great break from a non-stop day at the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom. A trip to one of the water parks is also nice if you are at a Resort that doesn’t have a swimming pool (or water slide).
Its Refurbishment
Last year, Disney announced that Blizzard Beach would close for most of 2023 as it underwent a massive refurbishment. As of March 18, 2023, the Park has remained closed with no official opening date listed.

Although it is believed to be replacement parts for a current slide, we can always remain hopeful that when Blizzard Beach re-opens, there may be some new surprises, if not an all-out new attraction. Only time will tell.
