On February 8, 2001, 46 years after Walt opened his first theme park, a second theme park opened at the Disneyland Resort. Disney California Adventure Park took guests into the Golden Age of Hollywood and along some iconic California Boardwalks. While the theme park didn’t have the size or flash of some of Disney’s other parks, it was something that Disneyland desperately needed.
One of the attractions that was a part of the opening of DCA was the Hyperion Theater in Hollywood Land. Guests could see Broadway-quality productions of some of their favorite Disney movies without having to purchase a separate ticket!

Over the years, the Hyperion has also hosted multiple world premieres for Disney films, including Spy Kids (2001), The Lone Ranger (2013), and The Haunted Mansion (2023).
As for its incredible shows, the Hyperion’s first show was Steps In Time, a musical featuring hit songs from a number of popular Disney movies. Then, in 2003, Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular premiered and remained at the Hyperion for 13 years.
Fans were devastated when the Aladdin show ended, but shortly after, Ana and Elsa took the stage for an adaptation of one of Disney’s most successful films, Frozen (2013).

In 2023, Disney brought a Hawkeye-conceived musical to life with Rogers: The Musical, which only lasted for the summer. It was an absolute hit and fans were sure that it would return to the Hyperion at some point, but that has not happened.
And now, it looks like it won’t be coming back anytime soon, or at all.
Disney recently sent out a casting call for the stars of a new show that will premiere at the Hyperion this summer!
