The crowds are back at Walt Disney World in Florida.

In Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs, Guests have seen long wait times return, dining locations getting busier, and Park Pass Reservations get booked up.

But what happens when you need some space away from the crowds?

Your friends have gone on Space Mountain and you’re wanting a place to unwind and get away from the crowds. You need a quiet space for the children with less stimulation and noise. You want somewhere to eat your Mickey Premium Bar in peace.

Well, we discovered what we think is the quietest area in all of the Magic Kingdom on our latest trip to Walt Disney World –  a place where no other Disney Guests seem to know about.

The COVID-19 pandemic closed many attractions and experiences at Walt Disney World, including performances like Fantasmic!, Beauty and the Beast, and The Festival of the Lion King.

One of the themed areas that suffered during the pandemic was Storybook Circus, an area inspired by the Disney animated film Dumbo (1941). Filled with bright colors, circus posters, and music, the area is definitely one for children to enjoy.

Even the pavement has circus animal footprints left behind, and the elephants even dropped a few peanut shells!

This area is home to several attractions, including The Casey Jr. Soak ‘N’ Splash Station is a great place to let your young children cool off from the Florida sun, while the popular ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant has two sides flying in opposite directions.

Braver children can head over to the Barnstormer featuring Goofy as the Great Goofini on a roller coaster a little less scary than Big Thunder Mountain.

The land, however, has seen closures and changes that have not returned post-pandemic. And this had actually created a wonderfully quiet area for Guests to enjoy!

Big Top Souvenirs was the place to get your Storybook Circus merchandise in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom, with embroidery stations where you can personalize your ear hats.

It was designed to look like a huge Big Top circus tent, and also featured Big Top Treats, a show kitchen making cotton candy, caramel apples, and “Goofy’s Glaciers” drinks. Post-COVID, this has not reopened and therefore has no traffic.

The seating area next to Big Top Souvenirs – up the ramp past the wet play area – is the PERFECT quiet space to go when you need a break from the Park’s chaotic crowds.

We went there after the fireworks one night at 9:30 p.m., and we were the only ones there. And it was just lovely to eat our churro in peace.

We’re not sure when Pete’s Silly Sideshow will return, but we’re sure this will add more people to this area. The Sideshow was a meet and greet area where Guests could meet The Great Goofini (Goofy as a daredevil stunt pilot), The Astounding Donaldo (Donald as a snake charmer), Minnie Magnifique (Minnie as a circus star), and Madame Daisy Fortuna (Daisy as a fortune teller).

So, next time you want a quiet area, head to Storybook Circus – even if you don’t have children!
