Hurricane Ian has made its way through Central Florida leaving varying amounts of flooding and damage to be assessed in its wake.
The Orlando International Airport, along with Walt Disney World and most nearby attractions and businesses, closed ahead of the arrival of the Category 4 storm, and this morning as initial damage begins to be assessed, the airport has announced that it will be extending its closure.
The Orlando International Airport shared an update this morning at 9:30 a.m. on its operations, noting that flooding and damage assessments are keeping the airport closed for the remainder of the day:
Commercial flight operations are still halted for today. A damage assessment is taking place throughout our airport and facilities. All roads leading into Orlando International Airport are closed due to flooding at this time.

The airport’s continued closure further supports what many Disney fans have already been speculating, that Disney theme parks will continue to be closed through tomorrow, September 30, 2022. Some fans have reported hearing from Cast Members that Disney will close tomorrow, too, and the Resort already removed the availability of theme park reservations from its website for tomorrow.
With the Orlando International Airport remaining closed, Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels who need to fly back to their hometowns may be extending their stays until they are able to get back on a flight home.
Disney also shared another update on its status following the storm this morning, noting that the safety of Cast Members and Guests is its top priority during this time. We at Disney Tips will continue to monitor new information out of the Resort throughout the day, and will be back with more information as we have it.
