Pirates of the Caribbean Attraction Faces Uncertain Future at Disney World

Disney Parks fans are raising concerns about the future of a beloved Pirates of the Caribbean experience at Walt Disney World Resort following recent developments in Adventureland. The Central Florida Disney park recently announced plans to open a new pirate-themed bar at Magic Kingdom Park in late summer 2025, leaving fans speculating about what it might replace.

While the announcement excited many fans of the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, others worry it may mean the end of A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas, a free interactive experience in Adventureland. This unique activity allows Magic Kingdom Park guests to use their MagicBand or theme park ticket to pick up a magic talisman at the Crow’s Nest building, which unlocks treasure maps and five unique missions.

Disney Park guests who complete the missions receive collectible cards themed to Pirates of the Caribbean. Those who finish all five are awarded an exclusive card signed by Captain Jack Sparrow. Fans have praised the experience as an immersive, no-cost adventure—something rare at Walt Disney World Resort.

Speculation on the Fate of a Hidden Pirates of the Caribbean Gem

Though A Pirate’s Adventure isn’t widely known among Magic Kingdom Park visitors, fans on Reddit have been vocal about their love for the attraction. Recently, Disney Parks enthusiasts debated whether the experience might be removed to make way for the new bar. A post from Redditor u/prometheus_winced sparked the conversation about the “greatest hidden attraction.”

“As far as overlooked treasures go, this is a big one,” the Disney Parks fan wrote. “If you have the chance, do a couple of these with your party. You can split up and do two different ones and tell each other about your adventure.”

“These are a great time waster if you’re waiting on a Lightning Lane period,” they continued. “Each adventure takes maybe 10-15 minutes to complete. I’ve never known anyone to be aware of them—and yet once someone has tried them, I’ve never known anyone to not be delighted.”

The post garnered hundreds of upvotes and comments from fans sharing their memories of the interactive adventure.

“One of my favorite moments on my last trip was setting off the cannon and a bunch of kids suddenly swarming me, asking how I did it and where I got the map, etc.,” said u/JuniorCaptain.

“This was such a fun thing to do on my trip!” replied u/TheOrganicMachine. “It’s the little things like this that make Disney so memorable.”

Debate Over Its Future

Some fans have criticized Walt Disney World Resort for not giving A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas the visibility it deserves.

“I love that Disney has this, but it needs better signage and better hours,” said u/infrared_hologram. “A sign by Pirates with something like ‘Free Treasure Hunt This Way! ->’ would help draw in the crowds. Keeping the distribution open later would help a lot too; it closes way too early. I feel like every time I’m in the mood to do it the distribution is closed for the day.”

Still, others argue that the new bar won’t replace the interactive experience, noting that the Crow’s Nest building is far too small to accommodate a lounge.

“That building is nowhere near big enough to be turned into a lounge,” said u/5centraise. “It’s barely big enough to be a walk-up drink window.”

“Unless they’re planning to make the lounge cross the walkway, it will not be where Pirates Adventure is,” u/Stormwindadventures added. “Even if they did remove the current distribution spot, I have to imagine it would be easy to move since it’s basically the same size as a closet.”

Walt Disney World Resort has not made any official announcements about the future of A Pirate’s Adventure ~ Treasures of the Seven Seas. While some fans fear the experience may be removed, others are hopeful it will remain part of Magic Kingdom Park’s Adventureland lineup.
