Planning Your Resort Day at Wilderness Lodge Resort in Walt Disney World

Wilderness Lodge Resort is one of the favorite resorts at Walt Disney World.  Many guests love the feel of a deluxe resort, but set in a more relaxed, rustic setting.  You get the best of both worlds where you have endless activities at your fingertips, but are also surrounded by nature.  Here are some great tips for planning your resort day at Wilderness Lodge Resort:

10. Start with a delicious breakfast at Whispering Canyon Café.

Even during a resort day, you will still want to fuel up.  Whispering Canyon Café is a great spot to enjoy breakfast.  The restaurant is very lively and fun, plus there are a variety of breakfast skillets offered.  The skillets are all you care to enjoy, so you can order more of any of the items that you like.  Guests definitely won’t leave hungry!

9. Take a tour of the resort.

On select days, there is a guided tour offered at the resort.  This gives guests a tour of how the resort is constructed and more fun facts.  Guests can also go on their own self-guided tour by picking up details from the front desk.  Guests can even look for Hidden Mickey’s while touring. While exploring the resort, be sure to head over to the lobby in the Boulder Ridge Villas area of the resort and check out the trains.  Some of the trains were part of Walt Disney’s personal collection!

8. Check out the pools and fun pool activities.

The pools at Walt Disney World are amazing and this is definitely true for Wilderness Lodge.  Swimming is a fun family activity on its own, but there are also a lot of great pool activities throughout the day.  There are games, music and lots of fun.  The whole family can get involved and get the most of a fun time at the pool.

7. Enjoy lunch and drinks at Geyser Point Bar & Grill.

Geyser Point Bar & Grill offers delicious burgers and other items.  It is a great lunch option for guests since there are a variety of options to choose from.  There are also tasty drink options for guests who are interested in relaxing with a beverage while enjoying the amazing views and atmosphere.  This is a great spot to hang out and enjoy a more relaxing feel with your party.

6. Rent a boat or bike for another fun way to explore the area around the resort.

If you want to explore the trails or water areas in the resort area, then you can consider rental options.  You could rent bikes and go for a leisurely ride around the grounds.  It is a great way to explore and get a little bit of exercise, too.  You could also decide to rent a boat and explore the lake areas around Wilderness Lodge.  The lakes connect up to all of the other Magic Kingdom area resorts so there is a lot to see and explore while on the water.

5. Take a trip over to Fort Wilderness.

Guests can also take a trip over to Fort Wilderness to check out the amenities over there.  There are boats that run throughout the day for no charge to transport guests back and forth.  Over at Fort Wilderness guests can check out the stables, go on a wagon ride, play horseshoes and other activities and so much more.  It is definitely worth the trip over to check it out!

4. Shop for souvenirs.

If you like to shop, then you will definitely want to check out some of the great souvenirs and items.  There are some items which are exclusive to Wilderness Lodge if you want to commemorate your stay at this fan-favorite resort.

3. Enjoy an amazing character experience with Storybook Dining at Artist Point.

Storybook Dining at Artist Point is one of the newer character dining experiences offered at Walt Disney World.  During this experience guests get to interact with Snow White, the Evil Queen and some of the dwarves.  Guests also get to enjoy a prix fixe dinner where they can pick from the amazing options for their appetizer, entrée and dessert.  It is an amazing experience and fun for the whole family!

2. Check out the Magic Kingdom fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant.

You can find a spot where you can check out the Electrical Water Pageant as it passes by.  The event is a series of water floats that feature bright lights that form shapes and figures for a fun light parade on the water.  It floats by all of the Magic Kingdom area resorts most evenings.  You may be able to see some of the fireworks from the evening fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park.  Fort Wilderness Resort also has great viewing options for both of these evening shows.

1. Participate in other evening entertainment options.

There are also other great evening entertainment when you are spending a night in at the resort. There is usually a Movie Under the Stars offering where guests can watch one of the favorite Disney films under the stars.  You can also check out the evening campfire, which fits in perfectly with the theming of the resort and the rustic setting.
