Reports Hint at Multiple Character Meet-And-Greets Being Cut at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is known as “The Most Magical Place On Earth.” After 50 years of bringing that one-of-a-kind Disney magic to life, we’d say they’ve definitely earned such a tagline.

But amongst the immersive attractions and rides, the delicious food, the amazing effects, and the pyrotechnics, one thing stands out as the most magical experience of all: meeting your favorite Disney character.

The personal interactions accompanying a Disney meet-and-greet experience can make memories that’ll last a lifetime. So why have so many character meets gone missing?

From Mickey and Minnie Mouse to Goofy and Donald Duck to characters from the Star Wars movies, meeting a favorite character can be the highlight of a Guest’s visit to the theme Park.

Visiting the Princess Fairytale Hall to experience a character meet with your favorite Disney princess is sure to create core memories that will stay with Guests for a long time after they’ve left.

Guests may not always realize it, but they owe this one-of-a-kind Disney experience to the talented Cast Member playing the part of a Disney character.

But according to Inside The Magic, “reports suggest that several meet and greets have been cut entirely from Walt Disney World due to labor shortages among Cast Members.”

Before Walt Disney World closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic, Guests could spot characters and experience the traditional character meet in each theme Park.

After each Walt Disney World Resort opened up again, Guests could still meet and interact with their favorite characters, albeit with social distance protocols in place. Almost two years later, some characters are still missing while others are back for traditional character meets.

Here are character meet experiences that we know will be affected by Cast Member labor shortages:

  • Minnie Mouse at the Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom
  • Minnie Mouse at the EPCOT International Gateway
  • Daisy and Donald Duck, and Max will all be absent from Hollywood Studios

As of right now, we don’t know when these characters are coming back. We do know that these changes will begin on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
