Refurbishments are a necessary part of operating theme park attractions, and unfortunately for fans of one of Disney’s most thrilling rides, a lengthy refurbishment is still on the calendar.

The good news, however, is that the start date of this upcoming refurbishment has changed, giving Guests one last chance to ride a favorite Disney’s Hollywood Studios attractions before maintenance work begins.

Some of the best thrill rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are located on Sunset Boulevard, which is home to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

Originally, Disney’s official website noted that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaste would close for refurbishment today, Monday, February 20, 2023. As of this morning, the start date for the upcoming maintenance work has been changed to tomorrow, February 21, 2023.

Disney’s website currently reads:

Beginning February 21, 2023, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be temporarily closed for refurbishment. This rocktastic attraction will resume its super-stretch limo rides in summer 2023.

If you happen to be in Hollywood Studios today, be sure to head over to Sunset Boulevard for a ride on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster before the refurbishment begins! So far, Disney has not confirmed a reopening date for the attraction other than “summer 2023”.

No changes have been announced for the attraction itself, so at this time, the refurbishment appears to be for routine maintenance work. Still, fans have speculated that a new theme could be coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster for years.

The speculation of a retheme among fans has recently turned to focus on Powerline from A Goofy Movie (1995) as an iconic musical Disney character where the ride’s theme of taking a “super stretch” limo to a concert would make sense. Hollywood Studios recently debuted a new character meet and greet featuring Max as Powerline, which has added to the speculation.

For now, we will continue to monitor work on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and will report back with updates as they are available here on Disney Tips.
