The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is home to some of our favorite quick-service restaurants. From the New England-inspired eats at Columbia Harbor House to classic hot dogs, and corn dog nuggets at Casey’s Corner, this Disney Park truly has some of the best quick service eats.
For one quick service location in this Park, the star of the show is truly a performer and not one of the restaurant’s delicious menu items. A mysterious disappearance, however, has Guests wondering when (or if) this iconic Disney Park character will return….

Located in Tomorrowland, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe has been one of the most popular (and the largest) quick service restaurants at Walt Disney World. While we do love the restaurant’s menu offerings of burgers, sandwiches, and occasional specials like rotisserie chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, and plant-based eats, the star of the restaurant is the loveable alien, Sonny Eclipse (voiced by the late Kal David).
Sonny Eclipse has typically performed daily in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe with roughly 30-minute musical sets accompanied by his invisible “Space Angels,” and playing his Astro Organ.

Unfortunately, Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom have reported that Sonny Eclipse has been missing from the restaurant for some time. Curtains recently covered the portion of the stage where the alien was seated at his organ, and today, fans spotted a major change to the stage altogether.
It appears as though the stage that Sonny Eclipse uses has been raised up to a backstage area while theming for Club Tinsel (which operates during the holiday season at events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party) has returned:

At this time, Disney has not commented on the disappearance of Sonny Eclipse; however, he is sometimes removed for maintenance work so it is possible that is simply what is currently going on at Cosmic Ray’s. Usually, when the alien is hidden due to technical issues, we see curtains covering his section of the stage, not a totally new set, so this change certainly has some fans worried about the future of Sonny Eclipse.
