It’s been the most-debated launch of a hotel at Disney – or anywhere – in hospitality history.
With new characters, lightsaber training, and an excursion to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge. the new hotel at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a lot to keep fans busy.
The new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will take Guests and Star Wars fans on a voyage like they’ve never experienced before – or have they?
With all the new photos and videos coming out about the Halcyon today, February 25, we have noticed some comparisons to an experience already at Walt Disney World.
Today, February 25, the media embargo was lifted for those who got a special preview of the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
With exclusive insights into the much-discussed Walt Disney World experience, we couldn’t help but compare the experience to that of Space 220 – albeit on a larger scale.
Space 220 is Disney’s out-of-this-world restaurant located next to Mission: SPACE in EPCOT, and features incredible theming, immersive experiences, and a constellation of cocktail options.
Those lucky Guests who have managed to snag a reservation for this unique restaurant will know that on check-in, Guests receive a “boarding pass” to travel in the pod up to the space station. Walt Disney World’s description of the experience reads:
To begin your journey, board a special space elevator that will ascend to the stars! Along the way, viewports will give you an aerial view of EPCOT as you travel high above the planet.
Disney’s official description of the Starcruiser reads:
Arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort terminal, board a launch pod and rendezvous with the magnificent Halcyon starcruiser.
The reveals today have shown that after you check in with your luggage and pass through security, you will board a “launch pod” that will take you “off-planet” and up to the Halcyon, orbiting above Batuu. When you disembark, you will find yourself in the lobby
The launch pod looks familiar, and we can’t help but feel that the concept of getting into an enclosed space to “launch” into space and dock with a spaceship was trialed by the design of Space 220.
We recently reported how the new Star Wars: Galatic Starcruiser is now featuring on Walt Disney World’s road signage alongside Disney Springs, EPCOT, and Magic Kingdom – but with a very different look than what Disney Guests are used to. The purple signage we all know and love has been changed to a blue color.
The eagerly-awaited Galactic Starcruiser hotel will take Guests on a (simulated) two-night voyage through a galaxy far, far away. While aboard the Galactic Starcruiser. Guests will be fully immersed in the Star Wars world and have a chance to influence the story of the cruise-like experience.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser has been described as a unique hotel that Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek has promised will leave Guests “blown away”.
The new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is launching officially on March 2, 2022, and has already been met to pre-opening lackluster reactions.
The two-night adventure is priced at around $6,000 for a family of four, and includes 2 nights’ accommodation, 4 meals and refreshments aboard the Starcruiser, 1 quick-service meal at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, interactive and immersive entertainment, as well as admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a Galaxy’s Edge excursion.
Characters like Chewbacca, Rey, and Kylo Ren will all be on board the ship, and Guests will take a port excursion to Batuu’s Black Spire Outpost in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Galaxy’s Edge.
