Tropical Storm Nicole is already being felt by Floridians on the coast, and those in Central Florida are preparing for the storm to arrive as well, with the greatest impact forecasted for tomorrow, November 10, 2022.
The Walt Disney World Resort initially announced a closure of just its water parks and miniature golf courses, plus the cancellation of tonight’s Extended Evening Hours in Magic Kingdom Park, however, the Resort has since announced a full phased closure beginning today. Now, Disney’s neighbor Universal Orlando has announced a phased closure as well.

Universal Orlando Resort took to Twitter to share the details of its phased closure now scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. today, November 9, 2022. Per the Resort’s official announcement, the entire Resort with its two theme parks and CityWalk will close at 5:00 p.m. while Volcano Bay (Universal’s water park) is currently closed and will remain closed.
Much like the approach Walt Disney World takes to managing severe weather closures, hotels at Universal Orlando Resort will continue operating during the closure to take care of Guests staying onsite.

Both the Orlando International Airport and the Orlando Sanford International Airport have also announced that passenger flights will cease beginning later this afternoon. Guests who are now unable to fly into or out of Orlando should confirm reservation changes with their airlines, as well as ground transportation that may have varying cancellation policies.
Universal Orlando, like Walt Disney World, has not yet announced a reopening timeframe for Thursday, November 10, as both Resorts plan to assess conditions before making an official announcement.

According to the latest forecasts, Nicole is on the path to becoming a Category 1 hurricane with wind speeds that could have the potential to cause some significant damage.
