Although the National Hurricane Center pointed out a ‘potential storm’ earlier last week, Tropical Storm Nicole swiftly developed in a manner of days and has quickly started creating roadblocks for all of central Florida, including Walt Disney World.

Disney Cruise Line had to change the itineraries for Guests boarding the Disney Wish and the Disney Dream, altering their plans to avoid the brewing storm.

Even the Orlando International Airport has made plans to close early today in an attempt to keep everyone safe despite Tropical Storm Nicole.

However, Walt Disney World’s timeline for closing their properties while the storm formed has been kind of complicated. First, Disney World announced the closure of a handful of Resort hotels as a result of the storm.

Then, an announcement stated that new reservations for November 10 and 11 were no longer available. However, merely a few hours after this announcement was made, Disney amended the statement, assuring Guests that each theme park would be operating normally despite the state of emergency declared for Orange County.

While Disney seemingly couldn’t decide between shutting the Park down or staying open throughout the storm, a decision has finally been made.

According to the official Disney Parks Twitter account, Walt Disney World is having a “phased closure” beginning at 5 p.m. tonight. The Parks will remain closed through tomorrow morning, and Disney has hinted that things will not go according to schedule after the phased closure due to the storm.

Walt Disney World Resort isn’t the only major theme park closing due to Tropical Storm Nicole. Less than an hour after Disney Parks Tweeted the news, Universal Orlando Resort made a similar announcement.

Universal Orlando Resort will also be closing tonight at 5 p.m. with a delayed reopening tomorrow morning.

Just like Tropical Storm Nicole, this story is currently developing, so be sure to check with the latest news for the newest updates on the situation! We at DisneyTips hope everybody stays safe during the ongoing storm.
