A World of Frozen-themed land is well overdue in just about every Disney theme Park across the globe.

World of Frozen

The original film came out ten years ago, was exceptionally popular, and made the company tons of money in merchandise, ticket sales, and even brought about popular Frozen-themed attractions to the theme parks. But devoting a whole new land to the franchise? Soon that will only be in one place: Hong Kong Disneyland.

World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland has been in development for seven years. But the project is finally completed and scheduled to open later this year.

In commenting on the new land, Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, shared the following statement:

“Kudos to our Imagineers and Cast, the dream makers behind making it all come alive. It truly demonstrates how creativity and innovation is the cornerstone of all we do at Disney as we deliver our unique brand of exceptional storytelling and experiences that touches people’s hearts, ignites their imaginations, and creates memories that live on from one generation to the next.”

The new land features Nordic-inspired decor, building facades, and three major attractions.

Frozen Ever After

The park will feature its own version of the popular EPCOT attraction. It will be slightly different since it’s not retrofitting the ride into a pre-existing track and layout like Maelstrom. The spirit of the ride, however, will remain the same, starring audio animatronics and taking Guests on a journey to the North Mountain, where Elsa awaits with her ice castle.

Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs

This ride will be the first Frozen-themed roller coaster ever built. The story behind the ride is that Wander Oaken has asked Olaf and Sven to help him pull sleds to the top of the lift hill before Guests speed down and around the woody mountain.

The third themed attraction will be an interactive play experience for children to celebrate Arendelle’s Summer Snow Day.

The area will also include a dining option and a toy shop. A Frozen land is also currently under construction at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris and Tokyo DisneySea.

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
