Guests Experience Bizarre Malfunction on Disney’s Newest Ride

Malfunctions can happen, and whether it is due to a ride vehicle stopping or a breakdown of a set or show scene, there are countless reasons why a theme park attraction can experience downtime.

When issues do happen, it is always interesting to get a behind-the-scenes look at favorite Disney attractions as the house lights typically would be turned on revealing little-seen details. In attractions that are more screen-based with fewer Audio-Animatronics or practical effects, this situation can look, well…different.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway recently opened at the totally reimagined Toontown at Disneyland Park. While the attraction debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in 2020, the West Coast version of the ride features a totally unique queue and subtle details that differ from Florida’s version throughout the attraction.

As the newest attraction at the Disneyland Resort, the ride has been quite popular while continuing to operate on a virtual queue (or Lightning Lane purchase) system. As such, Guests were surprised to recently experience a truly bizarre malfunction on the new ride. @cheltonjm recently shared a video to Twitter showing the issue:

Thankfully it does not seem like this kind of malfunction has been a regular occurrence since the ride opened at Disneyland, but it certainly offered a unique view of the attraction nonetheless.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is currently accessible via virtual queue or Individual Lightning Lane purchase at Disneyland Park, and with a standby line or Genie+ purchase at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
