The company is rebuilding quickly after losses due to the pandemic, including Cast Members. The workforce has backed up after sliding to pre 2016 levels. According to the filings by Disney, these have been employment numbers over the past few years.

2021: 190,000

2020: 203,000

2019: 223,000

2018: 201,000

2017: 199,000

2016: 195,000

2015: 185,000

It looks like from the pandemic, employees are at their lowest level since 2015. There are nearly 3,500 jobs listed on the Walt Disney World website.

On yesterday’s earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared numbers showing that Disney likely bottom doubt last year. As early as February 2022, the Walt Disney Company had approximately 195,000 Cast Members.

This means there are still around 30,000 less Cast Members than in 2019. If you are walking around Walt Disney World, you can see a difference. In areas where there used to be multiple Cast Members standing, there is now one doing multiple roles.

Since reopening, there have been hiring bonuses, and Disney is trying to do what they can to fill these much needed spots. Cast Members are what make Disney happen each day and are so important.

Many Guests say that the Cast Member quality has also been going down and that a lot of the magic is gone. Cast Members are struggling to do their job since there aren’t as many to fill the spots and stress levels are high.

There are also multiple spots available on the Disney auditions pageDifferent actors and performers are wanted for shows and characters.  Before, COVID performers would go into the audition casting center, but now everything is done online for the time being.
