Is Disney Genie+ a Financial Success?

There has been lots of conversation about Disney Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane attractions for quite some time. Disney was the last theme park in the Central Florida area to offer a free skip the line system like FastPass. Universal Studios Orlando and SeaWorld had already had an extra fee system to beat the long lines.

When Disney announced that they would be implementing Disney Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane attractions, Guests were very upset and thought that Disney was only thinking about the money.

The First Quarter 2022 Earnings Report shared that many Guests are paying the extra fee to skip the lines.

Before the holiday season, one third of all Guests at Walt Disney World and Disneyland in California were paying the extra money for Disney Genie+ and or additional Lightning Lane attractions.

 

This percentage rose up to 50 percent into the 2021 holiday season. At Walt Disney World, if you want Disney Genie+, it is $15 per day for Guests, and at Disneyland, it is $20 per day per Guest.

Each Park has two additional Lightning Lane attractions that vary in price depending on the predicted crowd level. If you have a large party, we can see why Guests would be upset because that will be quite an extra fee for larger families.

 

Although Walt Disney World had to close four months in 2022 and Disneyland for over a year, Guests have been returning, and numbers have been high at the parks.

 

There is still a reservation system in place, and Disney strongly enforces that all Guests in your party must have a reservation and will not be allowed entry without one.

If you cannot grab a reservation, keep checking because if someone lets one go, there will be a space available. Just make sure not to be rude to Cast Members and try to get in even if there are no spots available.
