It’s official. After a busy Christmas week at the Walt Disney World Resort, guests are experiencing something rather disappointing: a full theme park closure with absolutely no access confirmed.

Amid this bustling holiday stretch, Central Florida’s winter weather has once again disrupted operations at The Most Magical Place on Earth. A cold front moving through the region has thrown a wrench into daily park life, with fluctuating temperatures and changing conditions forcing Disney to take the unfortunate step of shutting the Typhoon Lagoon theme park entirely, not just limiting capacity or pausing entry at the gates, but closing the park for multiple consecutive days.

This recent closure comes after frequent shifts in operating hours and weather-related cancellations. Forecasts in the Orlando area have shown a noticeable drop in temperatures at the end of December and into the New Year, with this unsettled winter pattern being the catalyst behind the decision.

“A massive rush of cold air will cross Florida on Tuesday, causing morning and evening low temperatures to fall into the 30s and 40s for much of Orlando and Central Florida,” FOX 35 Orlando wrote.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is already closed due to Disney’s operational plan, but Typhoon Lagoon’s current three-day closure comes after a turbulent fall and winter season that has seen the water theme park shuttered on multiple occasions, including Thanksgiving weekend.

Now, with the closure in effect, a new warning has been issued.

“The weather service recommends, ‘Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves,'” Kenny the Pirate notes. “A Cold Weather Advisory is issued for Wednesday, December 31, 2025, for Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort.”

With the four Disney World parks–Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios–already busy and Lightning Lane passes selling out across the board, the closure of Typhoon Lagoon due to the weather will concentrate more guests at the other locations.

That said, if guests are having to wrap up for the cold front, it may be that many trade rope drop for a hot chocolate at their hotel resort.

About Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
