What’s on the Horizon: Epcot’s World Showcase in Walt Disney World

HarmonioUS

Epcot’s 40th anniversary is coming up, and Disney is celebrating with an incredible park overhaul. All kinds of new attractions and eateries are on the horizon, and we absolutely cannot wait. This overhaul includes every single section of the park, and we’re even going to see the front of the park—currently referred to as Future World—become three separate worlds. These Future World developments are amazing, of course. However, we are also incredibly excited for the changes coming to World Showcase at the back of the park.

The updates coming to the World Showcase are going to provide a fresh face for the already awesome walk around the world. They include improvements in several different pavilions, and are going to make the area even more family friendly. In this article, we will focus on the World Showcase changes so you know what to expect in the coming years and can get just as excited as we are.

1. Easy Access with the Skyliner

First and foremost, we simply must mention the awesome new transportation option in Disney World: the Skyliner. This gondola sky ride will take guests from Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera Resorts to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Epcot drop-off point can be found right outside of World Showcase, making it easier than ever to explore this fabulous part of the park.

2. Cherry Tree Lane and Mary Poppins Attraction

Mary Poppins fans will be thrilled to learn that this “practically perfect” nanny will be getting her first ever attraction! This attraction will be placed, fittingly enough, in the UK Pavilion in the World Showcase. While we don’t have many details on what exactly the attraction will be, we do know that guests will be able to walk down Cherry Tree Lane and take in the same sights Michael and Jane Banks would’ve taken in every day before entering the Banks’ house and beginning their jolly holiday.

3. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

We’ve known for quite some time that a Ratatouille ride was in the works in the France Pavilion. This ride will be very much like the Ratatouille-themed attraction located in Disneyland Paris. It will give guests the opportunity to shrink down to the size of a rat and experience life in the kitchen as one of these tiny beings. The technology behind this ride is fantastic, and it’s sure to be a hit with riders of all ages.

4. La Crêperie de Paris

In addition to the new ride, the France Pavilion is also getting a new restaurant. La Crêperie de Paris will serve up both quick-service and table-service meals inspired by traditional French cuisine. The menu was created by celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse and is sure to be a big hit with guests who love good food.

5. Wondrous China

Currently, there is a pretty great film that shows in the China Pavilion. Unfortunately, the film is outdated and not viewed nearly as often as it ought to be. Luckily, Disney has realized this and is working to fix the issue. The new film for this pavilion will be titled “Wondrous China”, and just like the current film, it will take guests on a tour of the gorgeous country. This new film will be shown in a completely seamless 360-degree digital format, and the quality is sure to be beyond stunning.

6. Canada Far and Wide

We will see another film replacement in the Canada Pavilion. Just like in the China Pavilion, this movie has needed an update for a while now, and it seems the new version is going to be spectacular. “Canada Far and Wide” will debut in January 2020, and just like its predecessor, it will be shown in “Circle-Vision 360”, meaning it can be viewed on every wall in the room.

7. Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along

Yet another fantastic film addition to the World Showcase will be the recently announced Beauty and the Beast sing-along. This will be shown in the same theater as the wonderful “Impressions de France” film and will be an awesome way to entertain young princess fans while spending time in the World Showcase. Expect to see this one in January 2020 as well!

8. Regal Eagle Smokehouse

Arriving sometime before the end of the year, Regal Eagle Smokehouse will be a BBQ and draft beer location located in the America Pavilion. While we did have to let go of the Liberty Inn quick-service eatery for this one, we’re thinking it’s going to be a worthwhile trade.

9. New Nighttime Shows

Finally, we must mention the new nighttime entertainment. The new “Epcot Forever” nighttime spectacular will be taking the place of the recently closed “IllumiNations” beginning October 1st. However, this show won’t stick around for long, because an even more fantastic performance will be rolling in sometime in 2020. This show will be called “HarmonioUS” and will be the largest nighttime show ever created for a Disney park!
