Joseph A. Masters suffered a “cardiac event” while riding PeopleMover on September 25, 2022. The is a slow-moving, 10-minute tour of Tomorrowland section of the Park.
During this calming ride, the elderly man lost consciousness and died at the local hospital afterward. Although this story is incredibly tragic, the deceased man’s widow has spoken up in a report by the Orlando Sentinel, and her input gives this story a bittersweet twist.

Alice shares that Joseph had gotten a pacemaker in July of this year, and the initial report stated that he had a “pre-existing heart condition,” which led to the “cardiac event” Masters suffered while on .

Alice Masters describes the firefighters and Disney Cast Members who responded to the situation as “wonderful.” She reports that they quickly helped her husband and shut the ride down in an attempt to give the family privacy. The also paid for the family’s taxis to the hospital.
Orlando Sentinel writes, Masters was an Army National Guard veteran and volunteer firefighter who enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with family and visiting . He is survived by his wife, two children and two granddaughters.
