10 Tips for the Best Day Ever at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World

Guests who travel to Walt Disney World love to spend lots of time in the four Disney Parks enjoying all of the amazing attractions, dining, shopping, entertainment, and more. Of the four parks, the most popular by far is the Magic Kingdom which has been amazing guests since opening with Walt Disney World in October of 1971. The park is home to differently themed lands that each bring a different location or place in time to life through incredible details and experiences. With so many amazing experiences for guests to enjoy, it can definitely be difficult when trying to figure out a plan to see and accomplish as much as possible in one day at the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully there are several tips that guests can use to help save time and frustration and help them have an amazing time in the park. Here are ten tips for guests to follow in order to have the best day ever at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World!

1. Frontierland Mountains First

The best way to kick off a day in the Magic Kingdom is by immediately heading towards Frontierland and enjoying two of the park’s most popular attractions. Splash Mountain brings guests on an adventure with Br’er Rabbit who ends up getting into all kinds of trouble ending in Br’er Fox throwing him into the Briar Patch below. Guests can enjoy a soaking experience with several drops in this popular attraction. Found next door is also Big Thunder Mountain Railroad where guests can enjoy the wildest ride in the wilderness as they careen through the mining town of Tumbleweed. Since both attractions are so popular, they can have long wait times throughout the day, but typically are quiet first thing in the morning.

2. Don’t Skip Classic Attractions

In addition to popular and thrilling attractions, the Magic Kingdom is also home to plenty of classic attractions that are considered by many guests to be underrated. Despite being considered underrated, guests simply must enjoy these classics in order to appreciate all that the Magic Kingdom has to offer, and each is wonderful in their own ways. Some classics to enjoy include Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room the Country Bear Jamboree, and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.

3. FastPass Peter Pan’s Flight

Fantasyland is one of the most popular areas of the Magic Kingdom thanks to its attractions that are fun for the whole family. Peter Pan’s Flight in particular is a beloved classic that sprinkles guests with pixie dust and has them take to the skies to fly high with Peter Pan over London and Neverland. With classic moments from the film brought to life, Peter Pan’s Flight often has extremely long wait times, making it the perfect option to use a FastPass on in the Magic Kingdom.

4. FastPass Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Also found in Fantasyland is another popular attraction that perfectly combines favorite characters with a thrilling adventure. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train brings guests into the mines where the Dwarfs are hard at work while also whisking them around a mountainside and offering sharp turns and drops. With glimpses of the Dwarfs and lots of thrills for guests of all sizes to enjoy, this attraction is very popular throughout each day in the park. Guests who want to enjoy the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train should definitely opt to do so with a FastPass to save time that can be spent enjoying other areas of the park.

5. Lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant

The Magic Kingdom is home to many popular quick service locations including one in Fantasyland that brings a favorite location from a Disney animated classic to life. Be Our Guest Restaurant brings guests inside the Beast’s castle from Beauty and the Beast and allows guests to dine on French cuisine in the West Wing, Grand Ballroom, or Portrait Gallery. Lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant is a quick service meal, however guests can make reservations ahead of time to avoid waiting for a table.

6. Watch Festival of Fantasy from Frontierland

Each afternoon, the Magic Kingdom features a wonderful parade that brings the whimsy of fantasy to life through larger than life floats, catchy music, and favorite Disney characters. The Festival of Fantasy Parade is very popular with guests who line up well ahead of time along the entire parade route to score the perfect view. Since the parade ends on Main Street, most guests tend to find spots along the curb there, making the beginning of the route in Frontierland typically less crowded. Guests who want to avoid higher crowds and enjoy a great spot should do so from Frontierland down by Splash Mountain.

7. FastPass Space Mountain

Tomorrowland is home to many popular attractions that bring guests into space for thrilling adventures in the final frontier. The most popular and thrilling attraction in the area is Space Mountain which brings guests to the intergalactic travel hub of Starport 75. Once on board their rockets, guests can blast off into the darkness of space for a high speed adventure they won’t soon forget. Those who want to enjoy the thrills of Space Mountain should definitely plan on using a FastPass so that they can experience the attraction with little to no wait time.

8. Dinner at The Plaza Restaurant

After a long day enjoying all that the Magic Kingdom has to offer, guests should head to Main Street to enjoy dinner in a wonderful full service location that perfectly pairs American favorites with stunning views of Cinderella Castle and the hub. The Plaza Restaurant is a small location that serves up classics such as burgers, sandwiches, and salads that guests can enjoy in a dining room that is full of turn-of-the-century details. In addition to the wonderful atmosphere and menu, guests can also indulge in desserts made fresh next door at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor!

9. Meet Mickey

While on Main Street, guests should head down to the Town Square Theater to enjoy a wonderful meet and greet with the most popular character around. The location is home to Mickey Mouse who is greeting guests in his Magician outfit. This meet and greet is a must experience while spending time in the Magic Kingdom.

10. The Perfect Spot

The end of each day in the park comes with a showing of Happily Ever After high in the sky above Cinderella Castle. This show shares with guests the magic of a happy ever after through fireworks, Disney music, and amazing projections on Cinderella Castle. With the best views of the show from Main Street, guests should find a spot at least an hour before show time and then enjoy the perfect view and best end to an evening in the Magic Kingdom.
