8. It is an experience that all guests can enjoy.

This is one of those experiences that really is for everyone.  All ages can get involved and go on the quest.  It is a great way to explore the different lands within Magic Kingdom and keep everyone engaged while doing so.  Since there aren’t really any lines (unless you are waiting to get to a specific portal) and you can go at your own pace, it is convenient for those with smaller children or special needs.

7. There are multiple different quests available.

This isn’t one of those experiences that you do once and then it is done.  There are multiple different quests available (around 9 total) to keep things interesting for guests.  Each of the quests take around 20 to 30 minutes to complete so you can fit them all in or try different quests during different visits to Magic Kingdom Park.

6. It is free!

This is definitely a perk.  It isn’t exactly “free” since guests do pay park admission to get into the Magic Kingdom, but you don’t have to pay anything extra to get the map and cards to go on the quests.  The map and spell cards can also make great souvenirs and collectibles for the kiddos, too.

4. You can get one map and pack of spell cards each day.

If you want to collect as many spell cards as you can (there are 70+ spell cards out there), you are able to get a new map and packet of spell cards each day.  There is no charge to pick them up, so you can keep collecting them and see which cards you get.

3. There are special cards offered during parties and special events.

If you are interested in collecting all of the spell cards, then you definitely have to visit Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  There are special cards offered only to guests at those events.  It’s possible that Disney could start offering exclusive cards at other events, so always keep an eye out for those kinds of announcements!

2. There are 20 Magic Portals throughout the Magic Kingdom.

As you are completing your quests and looking for portals, there are actually 20 portals scattered throughout the Magic Kingdom.  You’ll have to study the clues in Merlin’s map to find them so that you can have a spell battle with Hades.

1. You get to see a variety of favorite Disney characters.

The story behind Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is that Hades has a plan to make Magic Kingdom Park his summer home. He has the help of the other villains to track down 4 enchanted crystal shards that are hidden in the park and guests have to help stop Hades from taking over. At the different portals, guests will get to see a variety of different Disney characters and villains along the way, so you may be lucky enough to see one of your favorites!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
