Another difficult weather day is unfolding at Walt Disney World.

Florida summers are known for high temperatures and afternoon storms, but this week has brought conditions severe enough to alter daily operations across Disney’s four theme parks.

For three straight days, official heat advisories have covered the Orlando area as temperatures and humidity combined to create dangerous conditions for anyone spending long periods outdoors.

Disney has already responded by changing parts of its entertainment lineup and introducing extra support for cast members working outside.

Entertainment has also been adjusted. Midday performances of Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire have been shortened, while the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade now keeps all costumed characters aboard floats instead of walking the parade route.

Those changes remain relevant as another advisory takes effect.

Heat Advisory Returns for a Third Consecutive Day

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for East Central Florida from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday.

Temperatures are forecast to reach the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values climbing as high as 110 degrees. The HeatRisk level is rated Major to Extreme.

Orlando is expected to reach 97 degrees, with a 50% chance of rain.

Forecasters are urging people to stay hydrated, wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, spend time in air-conditioned spaces, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected, with rain chances between 30% and 60%.

Some storms could produce frequent lightning, wind gusts of up to 55 mph, and heavy rainfall.

Officials are also reminding the public never to leave children or pets inside parked vehicles.

Disney has not announced any new operational changes beyond those already introduced.

However, with another official advisory in place, the current measures are expected to remain as temperatures stay exceptionally high across Central Florida.

Disney is not the only resort to have adjusted operations because of extreme weather.

At Disneyland Paris, local authorities recently banned pyrotechnics through July 15 because of wildfire concerns.

The restriction forced the resort to suspend fireworks for several nights, including its Bastille Day celebrations, which are instead expected to rely on drones and projection effects.

The Paris resort also temporarily removed costumed performers from Disney Stars on Parade – initially stripping it back to just Mickey, Minnie, and Olaf – adjusted outdoor character greetings, and closed some outdoor attractions to reduce heat exposure.

How Guests Can Reduce Their Time in the Heat

Guests visiting Walt Disney World during the advisory are being encouraged to build more indoor breaks into their day.

Restaurants, shops, hotel lobbies, and indoor attractions provide air-conditioned spaces where visitors can cool down during the hottest hours.

Indoor attractions are also among the safest options during extreme heat.

Guests looking to escape the sun can head to Pirates of the Caribbean or Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Magic Kingdom, Frozen Ever After at EPCOT, or Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Long outdoor queues are likely to be the most uncomfortable part of a park day.

Some attractions, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Slinky Dog Dash, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Kali River Rapids, often require guests to spend extended periods outside before boarding.
