A lawsuit was recently filed against Walt Disney World following the death of a Guest who sustained injuries during an accident at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
The incident took place in December 2020 when Jessica Straub (43), a travel agent staying at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort fell and hit her head. She was taken to a nearby hospital following the fall, but she, unfortunately, passed four days later due to “blunt head trauma from falling at a standing height,” as noted by Florida Politics via a report by the medical examiner.
The lawsuit was filed by her cousin Justin Morrison, who Straub’s obituary lists as “her dearest friend and cousin.” Straub herself was a travel agent at Magical Enchanted Vacations out of Bristol, PA, who was known among friends and family for her love of Disney World, New Kids on the Block, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Phillies.
Morgan & Morgan is managing the lawsuit, and no court dates have been set thus far. As such, it is very likely that it will take months or years to make it to trial, and like many lawsuits following theme park-related incidents, it is quite possibl that the case could be settled before then.
Few details have beeen released from the incident itself, and Reedy Creek Improvement District, which would have handled medical calls from a Disney Resort also declined to comment when the story broke.
Additional details from both the accident at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the lawsuit have not yet been released at this time. If new information is released regarding this incident or details for the lawsuit itself, we will be sure to share an update here at Disney Tips.
Any death or tragic accident at Walt Disney World is devastating, and our thoughts are with Straub’s family and friends.
