A Disneyland Resort guest recently discovered a spent bullet casing encased in concrete near one of the Southern California Disney park‘s most popular attractions, raising questions about how the ammunition ended up there.

The Disneyland Resort guest found the bullet casing embedded in concrete near the Pixar Pal-A-Round on Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure Park. Reddit user u/nabzim shared two photos of their discovery in the Disneyland Resort community, hoping another Disney Parks fan had an explanation for the bullet casing’s existence:

Interesting find in queue for the Ferris wheel – a brass 22LR shell (bullet casing), mixed into the concrete!

Disney Parks fans were intrigued–most had never noticed the bullet casing.

“Fascinating!” one user wrote. “Certainly not a hidden Mickey…”

“Wow! Good eye,” said another.

While one Disney Parks fan joked that “it was fired from Walt’s .22,” u/EBFGPoseidon had an explanation:

“Wonder if [it is] from a concrete pin driver? They use a .22 powder shot.”

“Almost certainly this,” u/Chikitiki90 replied.

“Honestly what I love about this site,” said u/EmptyJournals. “Someone comes in with the exact expertise you need on a completely unrelated subreddit.”

There’s no way to confirm that a power tool left the casing behind, but evidence from industry authorities supports that conclusion.

The Powder Actuated Tool Manufacturers Institute states that power actuated tools, like concrete pin drivers, use empty shell casings without bullets or projectiles as power sources.

“Powder Actuated Tools are not firearms or weapons … they are designed and operate as construction tools,” they wrote. “…While these tools have a firing pin and commonly use a blank gun powder charge, the fastening is fully contained, i.e there are no projectiles or bullets, and the tool cannot be discharged like a firearm.”
