Parades and live entertainment were incredibly missed when Disney’s theme parks reopened after the pandemic.

Disney Guests frequently discussed the return of shows like The Festival of the Lion King, Fantasmic!, and A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, with fans yearning to once again experience the amazing performances from Disney’s Cast Members.

Disney revealed recently that Walt Disney World in Florida will finally be seeing some new and returning entertainment offerings, including a brand new character cavalcade and the grand return of the Festival of Fantasy parade!

But what happens when shows at Disney go wrong? Well, Disney Tips witnessed a fail at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this weekend that left the audience cheering and confused at the same time.

Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage is the classic Broadway-style musical at the Theater of the Stars, on Sunset Boulevard, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Based on the 1991 animated film, the musical show opened on November 22, 1991 – interestingly the same day the film was released. Most of the soundtrack is pre-recorded, but the actors playing Belle and Gaston do have live dialogue and singing.

The show closed during the pandemic closure of the Park and beyond, reopening on August 15, 2021 with modifications to the staging and choreography for Cast Member health and safety.

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, we went to the 1 p.m. performance of Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage, and the show began normally.

Belle and the dancers performed to the iconic tune “Belle”, followed by Gaston’s villainous song. Once the castle scene was unveiled and Cogsworth, Lumiere, and Mrs Potts were revealed, the famous song “Be Our Guest” was dramatically cut short.

Due to apparent sound issues, the music completely cut off and the stage was left silent. The dancers continued for a few seconds before heading off stage and the curtain swiftly dropped.

The audience was confused at first but then started cheering as Cast Members came out and started a Mexican wave. It seemed to be some kind of amp issue, with the backstage sound team quickly resetting things and getting the show back on track.

The curtain lifted to loud applause and cheers, with the song resetting and the show continuing as usual.

It was an odd experience, but definitely showcased the professionalism of the Cast Members in seamlessly ensuring that the show must go on! You can watch the moment the curtain fell on the performance below:

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has seen Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge become a popular addition to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, with continual crowds and long wait times.

The new land joins established attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Toy Story Land, and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.
