Behind the Scenes Interview for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Today Disney Tips interviewed with Ann Morrow Johnson who is executive producer and creative director to tell us more about Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. She was telling us how the Galactic Starcruiser is going to transform the Disney Star Wars experience. She said it is a completely first one-of-a-kind experience where Guests get to spend two nights living out a story in the Star Wars Universe. You can’t put it into a category of a Hotel, Theme Park or Theater. Guests get to play a role in choosing their path within the Star Wars story. When you come on board you have everything from your food, activities and your accommodations on board all included. She explained that this is a cruise style but not in the ocean. You are on the one journey that goes horribly wrong, and you get wrapped up in the action. Your story will unfold differently depending on which characters you meet and who you want to help.

This adventure will be suitable for all fan levels. She says this experience is for the people who love Star Wars and the people who love them. They made sure that there is something for everyone. Even if you don’t know the movies, the characters are asking for your help, and it’s still an amazing experience. Everything is an invitation, not an obligation. If you want to sit back and watch the action unfold, she said that’s awesome. If you want to get dressed up and be in full face paint and really immerse yourself in it you can, it’s up to you. If you want just to be yourself but play hard to help the first resistance or be a Smuggler, you can. You can use the Play Disney Parks App to see new story pieces unfold that connect through there. There are new ways that Guests can engage with this new Star Wars story. There are lots of little Easter eggs for hardcore Star Wars fans.

She encourages Guests to plan a longer trip than just the Galactic Starcruiser. If you’re staying at one of the other Disney Resorts it is your chance to really explore everything that Walt Disney World offers. Once you’re on board Galactic Starcruiser, it is a complete vacation experience, and you are given an itinerary. You are living out a storyline when you are on board. You will visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a part of that on your excursion to Batuu. Even with that, you were given story missions to go on throughout Galaxy’s Edge, giving you access to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. You are given story reasons to do them. You can visit the rest of the Park if you want to, but they encourage you to focus on your mission. She says you’re playing Star Wars for those two nights.

Many Guest want to know about the food. She said you would find very little that will overlap food-wise between Galactic Starcruiser and the rest of the Park. The chefs have done a wonderful job creating a unique culinary experience. This is a “swanky high-class fare” when it comes to dining. She says it is otherworldly cuisine. It is in story food that feels fun and different inspired by different planets, it has an elevated twist.

Last but not least she shared characters that we can plan to see on board. You will get to see Chewie, Rey, and Kylo Ren. She said there would be a whole host of new characters that will be joining, and they have been working with Lucasfilm on how they can create a unique storyline that Guests can experience when they are on the Starcruiser the very first time.
