The 2022 D23 Expo is underway, and today’s Parks panel is bringing with it lots of exciting updates from Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort.
Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products was on hand during the event sharing news out of Parks and Resorts on both coasts, and some of the most exciting updates involved all-new experiences with beloved characters. Some of the characters coming to new attractions and areas at Disney Parks have not yet been featured before, at least in such an impactful way.

Among new projects announced for the Disneyland Resort, today’s panel shared the news that Pacific Wharf at Disney California Adventure will soon undergo an extensive reimagining.
Fans of Big Hero 6 (2014) will be especially thrilled to learn that Pacific Wharf at Disney California Adventure will soon become San Fransokyo, the iconic setting of one of the most acton-packed films from Walt Disney Animation Studios!

The official Disney Parks Twitter account shared a first look at concept art for the reimagined space noting:
Pacific Wharf at Disney California Adventure Park will be reimagined as San Fransokyo from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Big Hero 6,” and feature a place to meet Baymax as well as new spots to eat and shop.

San Fransokyo has so much potential for a theme park land, and fans have been hoping for more of a presence from Big Hero 6 in Disney Parks since the film’s release in 2014. The land will come with new places to eat and shop and a character meet and greet with Baymax himself, but complete details have not yet been confirmed.
Previously Big Hero 6 was featured on the East Coast with a Baymax character meet and greet in EPCOT, but fans have been missing more of a presence from the film since the meet and greet ended a couple of years ago.
