The Walt Disney World Resort has really been through it in terms of weather-related closures this year. From Hurricane Ian to Subtropical Storm (turned Hurricane then reverted back to Tropical Storm) Nicole Disney theme parks and Resorts have already faced several closures since the beginning of September.
While each Disney Park and Resort has long-returned to normal operations since the last storm, weather-related closures continue to impact certain areas of the Resort this weekend.

It may seem a bit silly depending on where you are traveling from, but cold weather can actually have some significant impact on Disney World’s operations, too. More often than not, you’ll see the theme parks impacted by cooler temperatures when outdoor dining areas are not being used, or if you find yourself at an unusually empty Resort pool.
Pools at Disney Resorts do not typically close for cold weather (at least at Walt Disney World, you may have a different experience at an international Park like Disneyland Paris where it could be cold enough to snow!). Water parks at the Walt Disney World Resort do sometimes close for low temps, however, and with forecasts showing highs below 70 degrees, Blizzard Beach is currently set to close tomorrow, Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is also closed at this time, not for cold temperatures, but for its annual refurbishment. No reopening date has been announced so far for Typhoon Lagoon, nor has Disney shared if anything new will be added to the Park during this time.
Blizzard Beach only recently reopened from its own annual refurbishment that included not only routine maintenance work but the addition of new Frozen (2013) theming in select areas of the Park.

Blizzard Beach also seasonal festivities underway for the holidays, so if you are able to visit another time before December 31, 2022, you can meet Santa Claus and try delicious new treats around the Park just for the most magical time of the year.
With Disney’s only operating water park closed tomorrow, Guests looking to go for a swim will want to head to their Disney Resorts instead. Currently, the Park is back on the calendar with regular hours beginning on Monday, November 21, 2022, but we will keep you updated here on Disney Tips if anything changes.
