Disney water parks offer Guests exploring the Walt Disney World Resort an exciting way to cool off right in the middle of the magic. Both Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are expertly themed with their own storylines and hit water attractions that keep Guests coming back year after year.
While both theme parks typically undergo short refurbishments in the off-season, the maintenance schedule had been changed up when the Resort reopened from its closure at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, Blizzard Beach has now been closed since January of this year.
We have seen lots of construction take place at Blizzard Beach thanks to aerial footage, but Disney has not yet announced a reopening date. Given some updates to Disney’s official website however, we have a feeling this Disney Park could be opening back up very soon!

With Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park just coming down from a busy summer season, fans have wondered when Blizzard Beach could reopen. In a recent update to Disney’s official website, the Park hours calendar now runs through November 5, 2022. The hours for Typhoon Lagoon, however, are only listed through October 29, 2022.
In years past, fall was about when one of Disney’s water parks would close for refurbishment after a busy summer. Assuming Typhoon Lagoon is closing for its annual refurbishment on October 30, 2022, it is possible that we will see Blizzard Beach open immediately after.
Disney has not yet confirmed the new dates for Typhoon Lagoon’s annual refurbishment, nor has the Resort shared new details on the status of Blizzard Beach. Still, we can typically get an idea of closing and opening dates around Walt Disney World based on the Park hours calendar.
In the last update on Blizzard Beach, we noticed some renovations to the Park’s family raft ride, Teamboat Springs, and earlier this year permits were filed to begin maintenance work on Melt-away Bay.
We will continue to monitor any updates out of Disney water parks and will share additional information as we learn more about the reopening of Blizzard Beach.
