Figuring out and paying for Disney Genie Plus has not been the most popular element of planning a Walt Disney World vacation.

Guests Views of Genie+

Many Walt Disney World Guests, whether frequent visitors or those making a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, loathed having to pay more for a service Disney used to provide for free (Fast Pass and Fast Pass+).

Park goers have requested that Walt Disney World simplify the experience for a while, and last month, Disney acknowledged Guests’ issues. On May 8, they released a statement saying they had “heard from Guests that they would like ways to plan with Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane” before the day of their Disney Park visit. Disney also said last month they were “working on ways Guests may do this for visits in 2024.”

The New Pricing Structure

Disney announced today (June 23, 2023) a new price for Genie+ options effective June 27, 2023.

Guests who purchase Genie+ will have the ability to select a single-park or multi-park option. Choosing multiple parks will enable Genie Plus to function as it currently does with a Park Hopper Ticket starting at $27 per person/per day.

However, Guests looking to visit a single Park may pay less. The new single-park price structure is as follows:

Magic Kingdom: $27/person per day

Hollywood Studios: $24/person per day

EPCOT: $18/person per day

Animal Kingdom: $16/person per day

Although the price difference may only save a few dollars per person per day compared to the current Genie pricing structure, those amounts can add up quickly when traveling with a large party or visiting more than one Walt Disney World theme Park. It is also far less than the current system which once had Genie Plus pricing hit $35 per person per day.

RELATED: Major Change in Magic Kingdom’s Attendance

As always, prices may vary by date and Park, especially as the new pricing structure goes into effect and Walt Disney World Resort sees how successful (or unsuccessful) the change may be. Hopefully, the change will allow Disney Park Guests to ride more attractions, utilize more lightning lane passes and enjoy a more magical visit.

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
