Chris Pratt Has Never Been to Disney World?

He has also never been on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

It’s obviously not required that every movie star visit every attraction based upon a movie they were in. However, if nothing else, one would think curiosity might propel one. When it comes to actors and Walt Disney World attractions, many have visited the rides they either had a cameo in or played some part in the production. For example, Johnny Depp visited Pirates of the Caribbean, and Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel) visited the Little Mermaid attraction at the Magic Kingdom.

Star-Lord Says…What?

During an interview on the Elvis Duran Show on May 4, 2023, to promote the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 (2023), Chris Pratt was asked how many times he’s been on Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. He responded with, “I’ve never been there,” much to the shock of the interviewers. It’s unclear whether he’s referring to the ride only, EPCOT, or the entire Walt Disney World Resort. He did however, admit to visiting the Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT! ride at Disney California Adventure.

Cosmic Rewind Preshow

It does seem odd for him to admit to never being at EPCOT (or at least on Cosmic Rewind) since part of the lines he delivers during the pre-show talk about how much he loves the Disney park. He also continues to praise the old attractions of EPCOT that he enjoyed as a child. Of course, one could argue that he’s simply playing the character of Star-Lord and not speaking as Chris Pratt. But his performance of these lines has been criticized as Pratt “phoning it in.” If the star, in fact has never been to EPCOT, then there definitely is no authenticity in his lines.

But just as one may expect a celebrity to use a product before they endorse it, one might expect a celebrity to experience a ride or theme park before they promote it.

After all, David Michael Bautista Jr. who also stars in the Guardians of the Galaxy series as Drax the Destroyer has been spotted visiting the park (and the ride). Why not Chris Pratt?

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
