Disney Debuts New Trailer for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3’

Disney’s D23 recently treated Marvel fans to a trailer of epic proportions when they released a sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 at Brazil Comic Con. The film will revisit the galactic crew of unlikely heroes who save the universe through the powers of friendship and dance-offs.

When the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, Volume One, premiered in 2014 it became an instant hit with audiences. The warm reception catapulted the sidelined comic book characters, dancing through a battle to Quill’s 80s playlists, to the forefront of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, second only to the Avengers themselves.

In fact, it seems like the Guardians, including Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff), will throw down to some classic rock and pop tunes again. This time, the Marvel Studios trailer featured 1994’s “In the Meantime” by Spacehog. Plus, Director James Gunn will return to complete the triology.

Additionally, former antagonist Nebula will return following her turn to the good side, played again by actress Karen Gillan. Likely this will lead to some comedic tension as they all fight to once again restore universal balance. What’s more, the trailer suggests the concluding installment of the Guardians trilogy will delve more into the back story of Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Racoon.

However, audiences can also expect some sort of drama after the events of Avengers Endgame (2019), where Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora forgot her history with the rest of the Guardians crew. In particular, fans want to know how this will complicate her romantic relationship with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), with whom she had just gotten together.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 will premiere in theaters on May 5, 2023. Until then, fans can enjoy more content at home with the Disney+ Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday special and in the Disney Parks with the holiday overlay of Cosmic Rewind!
