The sudden disappearance of a familiar sweet stop at Disney Springs has left fans stunned, as Sprinkles Cupcakes has officially closed its location in the shopping and dining district. After years of serving up signature cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and ice cream to Walt Disney World visitors, the bakery–along with all the others worldwide–quietly shut its doors with little warning, marking the end of an era for one of Disney Springs’ most recognizable dessert destinations.

Rumors of trouble began circulating toward the end of December when social media posts claimed that Sprinkles was preparing to shut down all of its remaining locations nationwide. At the time, the Disney Springs storefront appeared to be operating as normal, with posted hours extending into early 2026 and guests still able to purchase treats from the iconic cupcake ATM. From the outside, there were no obvious signs that the bakery was nearing its final days, which only added to the confusion and disbelief surrounding the reports.

Behind the scenes, however, alleged employees painted a very different picture. Several individuals claiming to work for the company took to social media to express frustration, stating that staff members were given extremely short notice—reportedly as little as one day—before operations ceased. The timing of the closure, coming immediately after the busy holiday season, only intensified the backlash, with former employees and fans alike criticizing the lack of transparency and communication from the company.

Sprinkles first opened at Disney Springs in May 2016 and quickly became a standout location. The bakery was known not just for its classic cupcake flavors but also for its novelty cupcake ATM, which allowed guests to grab a sweet treat at almost any hour of the day. Over the years, it became a popular stop for families, couples, and anyone looking for a quick dessert while exploring the district. Its pastel storefront and rotating flavors made it a familiar and comforting presence amid the constant evolution of Disney Springs.

While Disney Springs is no stranger to change, the quiet nature of this closure has made it particularly jarring. No official announcement was made by Disney or Sprinkles regarding the fate of the location. Even as speculation mounted online, the store’s hours remained listed well into the new year, giving fans hope that the rumors might not be true.

That hope was ultimately dashed when it was confirmed that the Disney Springs Sprinkles location officially closed on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026. Disney Food Blog visited the site to see a closure sign posted outside. It is also now listed as “No Times Available” on the official Disney World website, with the official Sprinkles website confirming no bakeries available for pickup or delivery, and ordering pages “not found.”

“Customers at Disney Springs noticed the company’s official listings on the Disney website no longer showed operating hours beyond Dec. 31, an early signal of change often taken seriously by those who track theme-park district operations,” Forbes wrote. “The bakery’s online ordering platform now prevents bookings past the final day of the year, further suggesting that the retail footprint is being shuttered.”

Adding another layer to the mystery, Sprinkles’ official Instagram account has now been completely deleted. Once used to promote seasonal flavors, special events, and brand updates, the account’s sudden disappearance has left fans without any direct communication from the company. The lack of a final statement or farewell message has only fueled speculation about what led to the abrupt shutdown and whether the brand plans to return in any form.

For longtime visitors, the loss of Sprinkles is yet another reminder that Disney Springs is constantly changing. Over the years, numerous restaurants and shops have come and gone, reshaping the district with each departure and new arrival. Still, Sprinkles’ sudden exit feels different, largely due to its popularity and the absence of clear answers surrounding its closure.

As guests stroll past the now-darkened storefront, Sprinkles joins a growing list of once-beloved Disney Springs locations that exist only in memory. Whether the space will soon welcome a new tenant remains to be seen, but for now, the disappearance of Sprinkles serves as a bittersweet reminder that even fan-favorite destinations can vanish overnight—sometimes without so much as a goodbye.
