Disney Announces Virtual Queue for a Returning Guest Favorite

We all love how each Disney Park gives us that special kiss goodnight.

The gorgeous water show of Harmonious at EPCOT, the projections along Main Street, the Magic Kingdom Park during Disney Enchantment, and the nostalgia of The World of Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios all have something that will leave their spectators amazed.

As we have previously reported, the awe-inspiring nighttime spectacular World of Color will be returning to Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland on April 22, 2022, along with the Main Street Electrical Parade and Disneyland Forever. On May 28, 2022, Fantasmic will be making its return to Disneyland Park

This dazzling nighttime extravaganza, which includes displays of water, fire, fog, lights, music, and the art of storytelling, has been enchanting millions of Disney fans in one form or another for over a decade. The newly revamped World of Color show has not been seen since the Disneyland Resorts closed in March of 2020 because of the ongoing pandemic.

We now know that World of Color will be using a virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app. Guests will be able to enter the virtual queue at noon every day. If users are able to get a spot, they will receive a notification on when to enter the designated World of Color viewing area, usually 45 minutes before the show, through one of two entrances. Each Guest in the virtual queue will be assigned either a blue or yellow color, which will tell them which entrance to use.

Guests who are unable to get a spot in the virtual queue will be able to visit the Paradise Bay viewing area just before the show’s scheduled start. Guests will not be forced to use the virtual queue system to see the World of Color, but it is recommended. With life getting back to normal post-pandemic and with this amazing show returning to Disney California Adventure, we thought this would be a good time to remind everyone of some interesting facts about this one-of-a-kind experience.

The inspiration for World of Color comes from the 1960s television show, Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color, which was inspired by Walt Disney himself.

The World of Color show begins and ends with the theme song from the classic TV show. This nighttime spectacular has a stage in Paradise Bay that is longer than a football field and covers almost an acre, alongside a gigantic projected water screen that is 380 feet wide by 50 feet high. We know – that is one large wall of water!

Guests will notice that the World of Color nighttime extravaganza has a wide array of Disney characters, heroes, and villains, from much-loved Disney and Pixar films. World of Color has characters from Finding Nemo (2003), The Little Mermaid (1989), Toy Story (1995), Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Lion King (1994), and more, all synchronized with music, fire, and fountains that can send water 200 feet into the air.
