Is This Video Creator Lying About Being Sued By Disney For Views?

A Disney creator with an affinity for the Cars (2006) movies and Lightning McQueen has posted some bizarre videos on TikTok. The reason they’re bizarre is because people can’t tell whether the Tiktoker, who goes by the name @ninefivegarage, is being serious.

The superfan owns a car that pays homage to the main character of the Pixar film, mirroring his likeness almost exactly. In a video ironically posted on April fools day, he claims he is being sued by Disney.

Waving some unviewable papers in the air, he says he received a letter in the mail that he’s not sure what to do with. He explains to viewers that he started his journey (with his Lightning McQueen car) a year and a half earlier, with people warning him that he may get into trouble with The Walt Disney Company.

In a flippant manner, he responded that Disney has “much bigger fish to fry” than him and didn’t concern himself with the matter. From there, he shares multiple clips from his account that he claims went viral, bragging that he has the “biggest Lightning McQueen-themed account in the world.”

He doesn’t read the letter to viewers, stating that he needs to speak to his lawyer first. In a synopsis of the situation, he explains that Disney says the car “too closely resembles their intellectual property.”

The TikTok creator has continued to post numerous videos updating viewers on the “case.” But, some people smell a rat! In addition to the first video being posted on April Fools Day, there seem to be other inconsistencies.

In one of his latest updates, he states he and his lawyer have reached a settlement with Disney. Again, he waves a random piece of paper around; this one contains a cartoon image of Mickey Mouse on the bottom.

He reads directly from the paper, confirming that this must indeed be a joke. With ridiculous terminology, it’s clear that this cannot be an official letter from The Walt Disney Company.

Some of his followers may not be so amused by his elaborate efforts to concoct this fictional story. What do you think? Did he take the prank too far?
