The Walt Disney Company is under fire again, this time for allegations regarding unfavorable work conditions associated with Marvel Entertainment’s movie industry. The Gamer reports that multiple Visual Effects artists have bravely come forward to speak out against the comic book franchise.

Many have decided never to work at Marvel again due to a stressful work environment with unrealistic deadlines. Since the pandemic, it seems more people are prioritizing their mental health, with employees no longer willing to sacrifice their well-being for a job.

Several VFX artists have shared their experiences with Marvel, indicating that unfavorable work conditions have led to unsatisfactory results when it comes to projects. Some have gone so far as to make formal requests never to be placed on a Marvel venture again, stating that the company has the “worst VFX management out there.”

The news comes at a time when multiple Disney and Marvel fans have been noticing a drop in quality regarding Visual Effects in some of the latest Marvel films. TikTok has been ablaze lately, with videos of underwhelming special effects, clearly noticeable to hardcore fans of the Marvel franchise.

Few people had a kind word to say about Marvel, which was bought by the Walt Disney Company in 2009. The news has been quite shocking to fans, as Disney has a reputation for being a place that many people only wish they could work for.

But, former employees say that the money and acclaim are simply not worth the negative conditions they were exposed to. Reddit user Independent-Ad419 was quoted, “The artists working on Marvel shows are definitely not paid equivalent to the amount of work they put in.”

VFX artists with a history of working for Marvel confirmed that problems have not improved over the years. Mickeym00m00 shared, “Marvel has seen grown men punch walls and throw monitors from stress. I broke down a couple of times and have seen the strain it can put on marriages.”

This is sad news for Marvel fans who were completely unaware that the beloved films they enjoy caused so much hardship for the people who brought them to life. No movie is worth the loss of someone’s mental health.

We can only hope that The Walt Disney Company and its Marvel Entertainment franchise will work to improve conditions in the future, based on these sadly disappointing stories.
