Disney Genie+ Variable Pricing Was Just Lowered for the First Time

Disney Genie+ has undergone several changes since the system was introduced as a new, paid version of FastPass+ last year, and the latest update certainly has its pros and cons.

Last week, Disney Genie+ was updated to include variable pricing, meaning that the per person, per day cost of the service, could now vary by date. While this could be welcome news to Guest who happen to visit Walt Disney World on days when Genie+ is priced on the lower end, this is update is surely unwelcome news to Guests who find themselves paying more than anticipated.

An earlier update to Genie+ included the removal of the ability to purchase Genie+ in advance, which at a time when planning ahead for a Disney vacation is of the utmost importance, only added confusion for some Guests trying to work out the details of their trips.

Moreover, with Genie+ only available for same-day purchase with variable pricing in place, Guests do not know what the service will cost until the day they would use it. Unfortunately, this makes it more difficult to budget as the difference in pricing depending on the date for both Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes could be substantial.

Today, for the first time since Disney introduced the variable pricing model, we have seen Genie+ dip down to $18. While the service originally launched at $15, today’s price is the lowest we have seen so far since the variable pricing began last week.

Theme park reporter Scott Gustin shared a screenshot of today’s lower pricing for Genie+:

If you are working Genie+ into your budget, we recommend planning for the highest we’ve seen the service go for ($25). We hope the cost will not be that high during your next Disney vacation, but in case it is, you’ll be prepared that way, and if it isn’t you’ll have more room in your budget for snacks and merchandise!

You can find current pricing for Disney Genie+ in the My Disney Experience app, and information on which attractions are included and which are Individual Lightning Lanes is available on DisneyWorld.com.
