Disney Tips Your Guide To A Great Disney Vacation
It looks like the days of booking Disney Resort Hotel rooms 500 days in advance are gone. Now, Guests looking to book a room-only reservation will no longer have the option 500 days in advance but will need to follow “released annual product dates.”

According to a release from Disney as shared by Disney Travel Agents:
“Beginning Aug. 19, 2022, room-only reservations can only be booked as far out as annual product release dates. As a result, you will no longer be able to book room only reservations beyond released annual product dates.“
“Beginning August 19, your clients may book room-only stays through our current available booking window, which goes through Dec. 31, 2023. For clients wishing to book past our current available dates, new annual packages and expanded date availability typically becomes available in late spring.“

With the source being a theme park travel agent, you can replace the term “client” with Disney “Guest.” We also know the wording “annual product” is the same as Disney’s room and ticket packages.
If you’re a Disney fan that regularly books a Disney Resort stay without a ticket package, this change falls primarily on you. It’s not uncommon for locals or Annual Passholders to book a Disney Resort stay 500 days in advance without making any form of ticket purchase.
But now, this change will mean that all Guests will be booking Disney hotel reservations at the same time as Guests booking a Resort room and Disney Park ticket package.

We suspect the change is due to some Guests making a reservation at the 500-day mark but dropping the reservation and rebooking once a ticket package is available. Unfortunately, this makes Resort rooms available to all Guests simultaneously, which could make booking the desired hotel room stay more difficult.
Currently, Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservations are available through the end of 2023. But, when the new Resort room pricing and dates are released in 2024, the room-only booking window will only go to the end of 2024 rather than 500 days out.
