The possibility of becoming a resident of a neighborhood created by Disney? Where do I sign up? The brand new concept and the first ever of its kind is coming to California. In Rancho Mirage, California, Cotino will be the first Storyliving by Disney Community. The concept is not foreign to Disney, as Walt Disney had always dreamt of a community-like area. Originally, the concept was for EPCOT, which was then shifted. But it’s no secret Walt Disney was passionate about creating a space that could bring all walks of life together.
Disney has shared a first glimpse into the project and what it will entail. They call the initial plans the “first chapter,” which introduces the community story. Walt Disney Imagineering has been hard at work on this development with the ability to have residents reside in the community along with communal spaces to enjoy. The plans include more than 300 homes and a collection of parks in the Coachella Valley.

Future residents have plenty to look forward to with scenic views, purposeful design for connectivity, and a chance to live in their own sort of Disney magic. Take a stroll along the promenade, enjoy the mountains during a family picnic, or take a dip in the clearest turquoise waters. Cotino may just be your new home after these first looks.

Longtable Park Residences
The first phase of development will be a dedicated area for adults 55+. While a range of homes will be featured, offering various options for homebuyers of all ages, this is the first rollout. “Using creative framework developed by Walt Disney Imagineering, home designs will be inspired by the rich history, landscape, and beauty of the greater Palm Springs area and brought to life by select homebuilders,” Disney Parks Blog writes.
The name of the residence, Longtable Park, is inspired by experiences that drew Walt Disney to the area. Residences will have a dedicated gathering place called Longtable Park. The purpose of the space is to provide an area to gather with friends and family around the focal point, a centerpiece table.

Laughing Place Ranch
Laughing Place Ranch will be the perfect place for you and your four-legged friends! Inspired by Walt Disney’s love for horses, the equestrian-themed dog park has areas for pets of all sizes to play.
While these are just two of the many exciting parts coming to Cotino, the website details even more features to look forward to. Highlights like world-class golf and tennis courses, nature trails, a beachfront clubhouse, and even Disney signature events. Additionally, pre-sales appointments are expected to begin later this year, with the hope to launch home sales shortly.
