Are you planning a Walt Disney World Resort trip with your little one? Fantastic! But it’s important to know what to expect and to be prepared for your visit to any Disney Park. EPCOT often gets the reputation of being an “adult” park, but there are many attractions, rides, and shows for kids of all ages to enjoy (even babies!). So let’s explore what you need to know before you bring your infant to the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.

Getting Around the Park

In other articles addressing bringing babies (and toddlers) to the parks, we always address the stroller situation first. EPCOT may require more walking than any other Disney World theme Park. Even though it isn’t the largest, its attractions are spaced far apart, and there’s a giant lake in the middle of the theme park that forces you to walk around the World Showcase instead of cutting through the middle (like you can with Fantasyland and the Castle at Magic Kingdom Park).

Regarding strollers in EPCOT, you can rent one or bring your own. If possible, many find it easier to bring their own. It will be more comfortable for your little one and will provide you with more storage options to help stow essentials such as diapers, wipes, or bottles. However, if that isn’t an option because you are flying or don’t want your personal property to get scuffed, stained, or lost, Disney does have strollers to rent.

Whichever option you choose, it’s important to remember that EPCOT has a lot of sunny spots, and it does rain frequently in the Orlando area. Keeping your little one (and yourself!) comfortable is essential to ensuring a good time at the park.

Every theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort has a Baby Care Center. This little family oasis can be a helpful place to stop, rest, and stock up on supplies. It offers parents access to a nursing room, changing room, feeding room, and a playroom with television, books, and toys. The center also sells baby necessities such as diapers (up to size 4), baby food, juice, bottles, and pacifiers. EPCOT’s Baby Care Center is between the World Showcase and Test Track in the Odyssey Center, providing a central spot to recharge and relax.

Best Baby-Friendly Attractions

Although EPCOT doesn’t offer the same number of baby-friendly rides as Magic Kingdom Park, there is definitely enough to keep your little one entertained and engaged for a full day.

The EPCOT theme park is perhaps one of the best places to meet characters throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks. In addition to classic characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto, many other friends can be found in various countries. You may be able to take your baby for some fun photos with Alice in the United Kingdom, Snow White in Germany, or Elsa and Anna in Norway. And since most families plan to meet characters at the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT’s character lines tend to be shorter (at least in our experience).

Final Thoughts, Tips, And Tricks

Scheduling mini-breaks throughout a day at EPCOT can be a lifesaver. Taking a few moments to cool down, relax, get hydrated, and decompress can help keep your party calm and happy.

Some dark rides or shows can be scary for your baby – even a toddler or young child. Be mindful of what attractions may be too much for your little one to handle. For example, there’s a slight drop in Frozen Ever After, and some babies may not like the darkness and sounds of some indoor rides.

At the end of the day, as long as your baby is happy, you should have a good day in the Park. No one knows your child more than you. So remember and take into account their comfort, their needs, and their schedule.

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
