As Disney’s premium immersive experience aboard the Halcyon, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, only opened in March 2022, but today, the company announced it will be permanently closing.
The two-night experience perfect for diehard Star Wars fans had been controversial since it began due to its high price points (of roughly $4,500 for the two-night stay.) Despite several amenities, including meals, and an excursion to Batuu, aka Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, being included in the cost, Guests will now have very limited time to experience the Starcruiser before it takes its final voyage.

Ahead of today’s news, Disney attempted to remedy low occupancy rates of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser several times. Initially, select voyages were removed from the schedule, while others were heavily discounted primarily for Cast Members and Annual Passholders.
Theme park reporter Scott Gustin confirmed with Disney that the final voyage for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will take place September 28-30, 2023.
In a statement from Disney, the company said:
This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was one of the most ambitious Chapek-era projects at the Walt Disney World Resort, that if successful, likely would have paved the way for similar immersive experiences in the future at Disney Parks and Resorts around the world.
Despite marketing and savings for select Guests, many fans continued to express opinions that the Starcruiser would ultimately need to reduce its pricing structure to continue to have enough bookings to operate, but it is unlikely that most Disney fans expected the experience to close altogether this soon.
Disney plans to contact Guests with reservations already booked regarding modifications for reservations already booked on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. The company also notes that new reservations are now temporarily paused and will reopen on May 26, 2023.
As for the future of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, Disney has not yet shared what would be coming next for the site. Fans have speculated over the last year that the experience would eventually be open for non-overnight Guests to visit during the day, but that remains speculation at this point.
We at Disney Tips will continue to monitor new information on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser and will share updates as they become available.
