Disney Wish Documentary Premieres On Christmas Eve

A new documentary on the making of the Disney Wish, of the Disney Cruise Line (DLC), will premiere this Christmas Eve. Of course, the Disney Wish is the newest cruise ship within the Disney Cruise fleet, only setting sail this summer.

Disney describes the Wish as a place where “where fantastical worlds and beloved stories from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar are brought to life like never before.” It features specialty dining and entertainment experiences for all ages themed to a variety of favorite characters from special franchises, such as Tangled (2010), Frozen (2012), the Ant-Man and the Wasp franchise, and more!

What’s more, the 1,119-foot-long ship can hold up to 4,000 passengers within its 1,254 staterooms, and employ 1,555 at-sea Cast Members! Obviously, Disney fans are beyond excited to experience all that the newest cruise ship has to offer, and now, they can find out firsthand from the comfort of their homes this holiday season!

In fact, a new production from National Geographic documents Disney Wish’s entire journey to making a dream come true, including design through DCL and Walt Disney Imagineering, construction, and the ship’s 2022 launch. Yesterday, Disney announced Making the Wish: Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship would premiere on Christmas Eve.

As Disney describes it, the 90-minute special written and produced by Bethany Jones and director Chad Cohen will delve into the creation of this “marvel of modern engineering” at “a two-centuries-old shipyard on Germany’s North Sea.” Moreover, via a partnership with Disney Yellow Shoes, the documentary will depict just how “hundreds of construction workers, engineers, architects, designers, animators, composers, storytellers, cast and crew” transformed “144,000 tons of steel” into the Disney Wish.
