According to the local Disney World Union, Walt Disney World has extended its policy for Union represented Cast Members who have missed work due to being sick from COVID-19.
The policy has been extended to March 31st 2022 and is explained as:
“Up to 80 hours of sick pay for missed shifts during two consecutive weeks for an employee not on furlough who has a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and provides sufficient medical documentation to the company
Pay for missed scheduled shifts for up to two consecutive weeks during a Company mandated isolation due to business related exposure to COVID-19”
Earlier this month, Disney was facing a backlog of COVID-19 sick pay requests and Cast Members were experiencing delayed payouts and hour long phone call waits.

Although COVID cases in Central Florida are still higher than we would like, we have seen a continuous decline and are hopefully on the other side of the Omicron Variant. For the time being, all Guests and Cast Members are still required to wear facial coverings indoors and on all forms of transportation.
There was a vaccine mandate for all Cast Members at Walt Disney World, but that has been put in void. Over at Disneyland in California, it is a different story, though. All Cast Members must be fully vaccinated by April 11th, 2022.

It is interesting to see how the policies are different in Florida and California. Still, it is not surprising since Florida is a lot more lenient to restrictions than in California.
Do your part to keep yourself and others safe and we can get through this pandemic together. It’s been a long two years, and just remember to always be kind to all the Cast Members around you. They are doing everything they can to make your vacation wonderful.
