The update is coming to the Adventureland Treehouse at Disneyland Park, which for several years has served as a tribute to the original treehouse inspired by the 1962 version created by Walt Disney and his Imagineers as a nod to Swiss Family Robinson (1960). In 1999, the walkthrough attraction was re-themed to Tarzan’s Treehouse inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film that opened the same year.

Disney’s current description of Tarzan Treehouse reads:

At Home in the Jungle
Your adventure begins as you clamber up a tree stump and cross a rope bridge high in the sky. Overgrown with vines and constructed out of parts salvaged from his tragic shipwreck, the tree house features ingenious inventions and vignettes from Tarzan’s epic life story.

Peruse drawings from Jane’s sketchbook that tell the tale of the young English lord who was marooned in the jungle, orphaned and raised by a tribe of gorillas. The tree’s scientific name is Disneydendron semperflorens grandis or “large ever-blooming Disney tree” and some incredible views await you at the top!

Now, Disney has officially shared that the Adventureland Treehouse will be re-themed back to its original Swiss Family Robinson-inspired setting when it reopens next year.

Beginning in 2023, Guests will once again be able to enter the treehouse past the giant waterwheel following wood stairways into the home from the iconic film. Recreated rooms from Swiss Family Robinson will be on display in the treehouse, including the mother’s den, sons’ nature room, and daughter’s astronomer’s loft.

The new version of the attraction will also include experiences for Guests who would prefer to stay on the lower level, giving additional access to see the kitchen and dining room, father’s art studio, and artwork depicting each room in the treehouse.
